The Small Press Expo for 2009 is in the books. I had a great time and was busy all weekend! Thanks to everyone that stopped by. I’d like to especially thank Alberto Gonzalez, who came all the way from Costa Rica to attend the show. He was also kind enough to give me this incredible drawing he did of the Knights playing football with some of his characters. Pretty cool, huh?
One more thing, I’ll be doing a signing for Knights 2 this Friday, October 2nd at the Barnes & Nobles on Erie Blvd. in Syracuse, NY, from 7-?. Stop by and say hello!
WOW, I can’t believe it! The Small Press Expo is next week. I’ll be there once again and I’ll have plenty of Knights 2 available. I’ll be at table #W 36, signing, talking and taking commissions.
This is going to be one of my last shows for a while. So, stop by and say hello.
Last week was a veritable treasure a trove of great graphic novels for kids was unleashed (I’m not just talking about Knights 2 either). Two other great books came out. Amulet 2: The Stone Keepers Curse by Kazu Kibuishi and The Secret Science Alliance by Eleanor Davis. These are both amazing. I wish they had these type books around when I was a kid.
Speaking of when I was a kid, my first EVER comic book show was ITHACON. It just so happens that this weekend I’ll be signing books and hanging out at ITHACON 34. If you are in the neighborhood stop by say hi. There is no better place to be than Ithaca on an autumn afternoon.
Some early reviews are starting to roll in, even though the book isn’t supposed to be in stores until September. I’ll be out and about this fall supporting the book. More on that later, until then enjoy.
Graphic Novel Reporter (this one contains spoilers)
I’ve been nominated for a Harvey Award! It’s in the category of Best Colorist and it’s for my work on Otto’s Orange Day. That’s cool! I knew coloring inside the lines was gonna pay-off someday. Now that I’m Harvey Nominated, I guess I’ll have to update my bio.
It’s also nice to see my pals Michael Jantze and Jay Lynch get a nod for their work.
Thanks to everyone who made this possible.
Here is the cover for Knights of the Lunch Table 2: The Dragon Players. It should be out this September. Amazon already has it listed here. The description is wrong, but the cover is right.
Last week I had a speaking engagement in Hanover, Pa the home of Utz Potato Chips. Every year the Guthrie Memorial Library spotlights three ya/kids authors for their summer reading program. The library purchases a hundred and fifty copies of each of the authors’ books and distributes them to the kids who sign up for the program. Pretty nifty huh?
“Knights of the Lunch Table 2: The Dragon Players”, has left the building.
YIKES! I’ve been away for a while. It’s amazing how much time these graphic novel thingys take to make. Needless to say it’s a huge relief, now all I have to do is wait for it to come out. That should be some time this fall. Although, Amazon has a listing for it now, these guys are on top of things. Of course the description is all wrong, but they got the cover (mostly) right.
Just because the book is done doesn’t mean I’ve been resting, oh, no. I just got back from Toronto where I attended TCAF, the Toronto Comic Arts Festival. It was a great show in a great town. I got see all my Canadian friends and shared a table with my buddy Diana Tamblyn. Much fun was had by all. It’s too bad it was only two days.
No sooner did I get home, I found myself on the road again, speaking at Lansing Central Schools. I gave a little talk (and I do mean little) to all the kids who had pieces chosen for the annual Illusions, Art and Literary Book. They breed some talented kids down in Tompkins County. Thanks for inviting me, I had a great time.
I’ve got a few more speaking engagements next month but for now I’m gonna take a break and reintroduce myself to friends and family.
